I grew up on a small farm with my parents, two brothers, and one sister. We lived out in the middle of nowhere...literally! My brother Christopher and I always had the strongest love for the animals. We would always be out in the barn with our rabbits, ducks, chickens, pigeons, goats, and cows. My brother and I had everything. And then my mom had her dogs. She had golden retrievers as far back as I can remember. They are the sweetest family dogs anyone could ever ask for. Our dogs were never kennel dogs, and were always a big part of our family. My mom had to choose a breed that would do well in a family because she had 4 small children.
After joining my mother in the breeding aspects, I developed a love for genetics. I was fascinated with researching bloodlines, bone structure, temperment, and soundness. Even though my mom loved breeding purebred golden retrievers, there was always that part of her that wanted no hair, and believe me, that is not accomplished with the golden retriever! Thus, the goldendoodles were born in our house. It was at this time that I began researching the Australian Labradoodles. In 2002, I was introduced to this beautiful breed. It took 4 years to finally have my own! In that time, I completed high school, and entered university, where I am studying genetics and reproduction. My mom is still avidly breeding the goldendoodles and early generation labradoodles.
One thing that I have found in the Australian Labradoodles, is a lack of a variable gene pool in the United States and Canada. I strongly feel that earlier generation infusion is a great tool and is helping to create that diversity. Health testing is also a very important part to dog breeding. With health and temperment in mind, I have carefully selected superior labradoodles for my program. Not only do I want to produce terrific puppies for families, but I also want to have my dogs live a full happy, healthy life.
